Sein Lyan Tun is a filmmaker from Myanmar, currently based in Paris at the Récollets. His work spans both fiction and documentary cinema, with a strong presence at international film festivals. His short films include Everybody’s Gotta Love Sometimes (2023), selected for Wide Angle at the Busan International Film Festival and awarded a Special Mention by the Sonje Award jury, and Late Blooming In A Lonely Summer Day (2021), which screened at Winterthur, Clermont-Ferrand, and Locarno. His first feature film, The Beer Girl In Yangon (2024), was part of Open Doors at Locarno 2021 and selected for Cannes L’Atelier Cinéfondation 2022 and Torino Film Lab 2023. In documentary filmmaking, The Bamboo Family received funding from IDFA in 2022 and the SEA-DOC grant in 2024, also winning the Cannes Docs Award and the DOK Leipzig Award at VdR-Pitching 2023.
